Over 20 years ago leonard kight located to slab city outside Niland California,
and began his art project entitled salvation mountain. Using only adobe and
donated buckets of paint he created a colorful monument to his faith.
Living on site year around, leonard is now working on building a museum next
to the mountain out of straw bales, found desert trees and adobe. Thanks to
a dontated bulldozer, 70 year old leonard has been making fast progress. A
master of the paint brush, Leonard has taken also to painting both of his
trucks, a rv camper his bulldozer. The museum under construction is shaped
to resemble a hot airballoon blown over, a homage to a earlier project by
leonard to build a baloon out of bed sheets, in order to fly up to heaven.Fortunately
that baloon didnt fly, which is what originally brought him to slab city to
start again.
