Suburban Scenes

This series of photographs represent my attempt to describe the unusual suburban and semi-urban landscape of places I have lived in the midwest. I particularly enjoy the ironic juxtaposition of the David Lynch-like quality of some of the spaces and the common understanding of the midwest as the epitome of normal and average. I have also sought to tell a story of light and surface. In a formal sense, I have begun to think of these pieces in a more painterly way and have begun to seek more complex lighting situations. All of the photographs are taken at night with available light and have not been enhanced in any way.
