After the journey from the strip job, the trucks make their way across the mountan to the dumping area. The photo shows three trucks; one waiting to be weighed, one being weighed and one on its way up the mountain to dump the load of coal. Each driver must swipe their card and punch in information about the load. The drivers are payed by the overall weight of each load and receive a receipt before driving on to dump their load. The red machine to the right takes samples randomly of the loads to test the seams for impurities and to grade the quality of the coal. Each truck is weighed empty each day to set the standard against which to measure the individual loads.
