The appearance of a taco truck is itself an indication of a certain type of peripheral space; most obviously an area underserved by restaurants, or areas that are bettered served by a short-term restaurants. Unexpectedly, these spaces occur in a diverse mix of locations in both some of the wealthiest and poorest neighborhoods of the city. The taco truck discoveres and reconfigures the underutilized spaces of the city, transforming empty lots, sidewalks and deadend streets into food centers.
